こんにちは、アミティー熊本武蔵ヶ丘校です。

2023年は皆さんにとってどんな1年でしたか？

英語を始めた！アルファベットが書けるようになった！

先生が言っていることが少しずつ分かるようになった！

People make lots of sounds every day and even every minute! Let's learn human onomatopoeia.

1. Chomp - to eat food vigorously. For example, I can't wait to chomp down on our Christmas dinner!


2. Chatter - clicking sound of teeth from cold or fear. For example, it's so cold in Hokkaido, my teeth were chattering.


3. Hum - the sound made without moving the lips. For example, mom was happily humming while cooking.


4. Rumble - a stomach sound for hunger. For example, I can hear my stomach rumble after a long day's work.


5. Squeal - high pitched sound to express excitement. For example, the child can't help but squeal as she opened her Christmas present.

Learning animal sounds are so fun, right? Today, let's learn about onomatopoeia in nature.

1. Boom - a deep sound of thunder. For example, the boom of the thunder scared my cat away.


2. Rustle - a soft movement of (dry) leaves. For example, the leaves rustled as I walked through them.


3. Trickle - movement of water on a surface. For example, the leftover ice melted and the water trickled down the kitchen counter.


4. Whoosh - swift movement of air. For example, the air whooshed as the bullet train rushed by.


5. Patter - repeated tapping sound (usually rain). For example, what started as a patter turned into heavy rain in 10 minutes!

Try these new words in your sentences!

There are so many English words that we need to study in every lesson but one of the easiest and most fun ways to remember new words is through onomatopoeia, which means a word from a sound. Let's take a look at some animal onomatopoeia,

1. Pigs say, "oink! Oink!"


2. Dogs say, "woof! Woof!"


3. Cats say, "meow! Meow!"


4. Lions say, "roar!"


5. Cows say, "moo! Moo!"

Hello, everyone! I would like to greet you and your family a Merry Christmas or Maligayang Pasko in Filipino!

Today is one of the most special days of the year and people all over the world celebrate it and make it uniquely their own. In my country, the Philippines, we celebrate it by having a lot of food like pancit (a fried noodle dish), cake, chicken, pasta, and much more! We also play exciting Christmas games and top it all off with exchanging of gifts.

"I don't care" vs. "I don't mind"

"I don't care," may come off as rude to most people. This expression means no concern or no care whatsoever about the situation. So, don't accidentally hurt people's feelings and use "I don't mind." This expression on the other hand means that you are okay with either of the choices presented.
