I want to tell you about my second year high school student.
When she joined my lesson, we talked about why it's so important to learn English.
For her, learning English was one path to being successful. For this student, English is important
because it means she can connect with people all across the world.
She believed that the more people she connects with, the more chances of her success.
So each week, I would prepare a list of questions and then we would pretend she was meeting someone for the first time in a new country.
As a group, we spent 10 minutes asking each other "thought provoking" questions like:
"what is the best piece of advice you've ever received?" and "do you think we are better off without smart phones?"
After a while, my list wasn't needed. Both her and her classmate would prepare their own questions to ask each other. And each time, they would put a lot of thought in their answer!

Strengthen Your Conversation Skills!
Hello everyone,
One of our first year high school students has really made improvements in her English
conversation skills. Her English has been good, even since the beginning of the school year,
but with the extra conversation practice that we do in class, she says that she has been able to
improve her vocabulary and thinking in English!
One exercise that we do in class is try to give extra context to the lesson by making up our own
situations. The students role play and extend the conversation by asking each other additional
questions. This really helps them think quickly and apply their vocabulary to real situations.

I have to go the village!
Hello everyone!
I'd like to tell you about a 3rd year Junior High School student who is very good with communication.
In every lesson, she tells me a story about the current events in her life.
Then we discuss those events in detail, asking and answering each other’s questions.
After that, we start talking about similar topics to those current events to make our conversations interesting.
We then use what we talked about to make stories with the topics we learn in each lesson.
This week, for example, we acted as characters in a play and used sentences such as:
“You shouldn’t go to the village. It could be dangerous.”
“I have to go to the village. I must buy supplies.”
“Where is the magician? He was supposed to be here.”
“Sorry, but the magician won’t be coming today. Haha!”

アミティーで受験対策をしてくれている中学3年生さん、
パソコンを使ったインタラクティブレッスン受験生応援コースを受講中です。
レッスンでは、パソコンの音声に続いて英文を音読、
その後知らなかった単語を辞書で調べて
読解問題を解いていきます。
はじめはネイティブの早い音声に続いて音読することが難しく、戸惑っておられましたが、
少しずつ慣れてくると速さに加えて、英語の発音も毎週だんだんときれいに発音できるようになりました。
自分で発音できる英語が増えれば、その分の英語を聞き取れるようにもなります。
「インタラクティブで前より英語に聞き慣れてきました！」
とご本人も変化を実感しておられるご様子です☺
