At Amity, we love to share our knowledge about our different cultures and where we come from.
At Kurashiki-Sasaoki, you can learn a little more about Canada through one of our seminars.
One of the best ways to introduce someone to a new culture is sharing new food.
With that, let's learn about Canada's signature dish, Poutine!
Poutine is potato fries, gravy, and cheese curds. You can also add any herbs and spices you like to the gravy mixture to add more flavour to your liking. You can also add beef or pork to the poutine making it a delicious and filling side dish.

Sometimes in English we have multiple words for the same meaning. One of these words is "
drowsy". It means to be sleepy or tired as you cannot focus or you cannot do much. Let's take a look at how to use it in conversation:
A: "I took some medicine for my headache, now I feel weird."
B: "That's not good. Are you okay?"
A: "Yes, I just feel very
drowsy."
B: "Maybe you should go home and rest."
In conversation, the word "drowsy" can replace the word sleepy or tired without changing the rest of the sentence. It always helps to have more words to use in English as it can improve understanding and comprehension.

Have you ever done something you are embarrassed by? Maybe tripped and fell in public? Sometimes we can express how we are feeling or the mood as "awkward".
Let's take a look at something that might be considered as "awkward".
A: "This jar is too tight. I can't open it.
B: "Oh, let me try." *Opens it without any issue*
A: "Oh, thank you... I guess I'm really weak."
B: "Don't worry about it."
A: "I just feel awkward asking for help."
Person A did not feel great as the jar lid was too tight for them to open and the result made them feel unhappy with themselves with having to get help. Sometimes we feel a bit awkward when having to ask for help or when we feel embarrassed.
