Good day!

I would like to share about my 10th grade Senior High school student. This student has been coming to Amity since he was a baby. With the support of his parents and teachers he is able to have an amazing time learning English here at Amity. This student has a bright personality and likes to ask questions on and off topic. At his age, he was already able to pass the Pre-1st grade of the Eiken. We were really happy and surprised. I guess the moral story here is that success does not happen overnight and I think with a lot of of hard work anything is possible!

I want to tell you about my second year high school student.
When she joined my lesson, we talked about why it's so important to learn English.
For her, learning English was one path to being successful. For this student, English is important
because it means she can connect with people all across the world.
She believed that the more people she connects with, the more chances of her success.
So each week, I would prepare a list of questions and then we would pretend she was meeting someone for the first time in a new country.
As a group, we spent 10 minutes asking each other "thought provoking" questions like:

"what is the best piece of advice you've ever received?" and "do you think we are better off without smart phones?"

After a while, my list wasn't needed. Both her and her classmate would prepare their own questions to ask each other. And each time, they would put a lot of thought in their answer!

一般的に「英語のレベルが年々高くなっている！」「難しい！」
「リスニング1回しか読まれなくて無理！！」などの声を聞きますが、

2月から3月にかけて、中学校2年生の文法クラスでは3年生で習う【分詞】という範囲を先取り学習しています☀

例えば、

①Please look at the sleeping boy.

②Please look at the boy sleeping on the sofa.

のような文を見比べると、ほとんど同じ単語を使っているはずなのにingがついている単語の位置が異なります！
どんな時に①の形を使うんだろう？どんな時に②の形を使うんだろう？と考えながら問題を解いています♪

Hello everyone!

I'd like to tell you about a 1st year Junior High School student who started studying at Amity last year.

At the start of the school year, he was a bit shy but worked hard to learn English. In those early lessons, he learned how to introduce himself with sentences such as:
“Where are you from?”
“I’m from Toyama, Japan.”
“What grade are you in?”
“I’m in the seventh grade.”
Since that beginning, he has learned to speak more clearly and with good pronunciation.

Now he knows how to ask and answer many types of questions using who, what, where, when, why, how, and which. So, we often have conversations before and after class about our lives.

Please come to Amity and learn how to introduce yourself and have conversations.
