新しいクラスでの自己紹介🌸

4月も半ばになりましたね。
新生活には慣れましたか?

アミティーでも4月から新しいクラスになり、みなさん少し緊張した表情でレッスンに参加してくれました(^^)

小学生クラスでは、1週目に自己紹介の練習をしました。
低学年クラスでは、"What is your name?" "My name is 〇〇. I'm an elementary school student."と自分の名前が言えるようになりました!
なかには、「日本語は名字を先に言うけど英語は後で言うんだ!」と気づいてくれた生徒がいました。👀

担当ではない先生にも英語で自己紹介できると素敵ですね☆

What Grade Are You In?

This week, our P6 students are learning about the different school levels in America.
In the United States, grade levels go from 1st grade to 12th grade.
If students are in 1st - 6th grade, they are in elementary school.
If students are in 7th - 9th grade, they are in junior high school.
If students are in 10th - 12th grade, they are in high school.
In class we learned the following phrase so students can say what grade they are in:
"I'm in the seventh grade. I'm a Junior High School student."
We can also ask others: "What grade are you in?"
Try using this question and answer at Amity to get to know your classmates better!

We made it through the first week of the school year!

We did it! Students at Amity were able to enjoy the first week of the school year. I was very happy to see old and new faces in the class. Although some students cried, generally, everyone did a great job! Let's look forward to attending the classes this year. Everyone, let's do our best!

What shape is this?~

Our students in the P1 course are learning about shapes. It is important for kids to learn shapes in English this early. We learned the following shapes in class: circle, heart, square, triangle, and rectangle. In our activity, the students matched some items like pizza (triangle), doughnut (circle), and cracker (square) with the shapes. We practiced saying "What shape is this?", "It's a circle!". Try practicing with some things you can find at home, too!

I Can Run! I Can't Swim!

This week our P2 students are learning how to talk about the things they can and cannot do.
To talk about the things we can do, we say "I can..."
To talk about the things we cannot do, we say "I can't (cannot)..."
For example:
"I can run."
"I can't swim."
What things can you do? What things can't you do?
Please share when you come to Amity!

You Should See a Doctor!

This week our P5 students are studying how to talk about what people should do when they are sick.
First, they learned how to say they are not feeling well using the phrase "I think I have..."
For example: "I think I have the flu" or "I think I have allergies."
Then, they learned how to give advice for different sicknesses.
To give advice, we can use the phrase: "If you have..., you should..."
For example: "If you have the flu, you should see a doctor."
Let's try to stay healthy but practice using these phrases just in case!
