Origins of Valentine's Day.
Good Afternoon,
Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14th. It is a day where we give chocolate to our loved ones, confess our feelings and celebrate love.
Do you know the origins of valentine's day? It's about saint Valentine. There are a couple of stories about why he was martyred. One says he was a priest who secretly married couples during a time of war as married men were less likely to be conscribed into the army. ANother story says that Valentine was a bishop who helped christian prisoners escape by befriending the jailors daughter, sending her notes signed "from your valentine".
While in Japan chocolate seems to be the primary purpose of valentines day, in other cultures the tradition of confessing feelings and writing love letters still holds.
Will you be sending any valentine's this year?
