Do you know that people in other countries celebrate this occasion differently than in Japan?
Let`s check out some interesting facts!
In Japan, New Year`s Eve is mostly celebrated with families and it`s usually calm and quiet. People take this time for a quiet reflection and preparing for a fresh start to the new year.
However, in other countries, people celebrate it not only with families but also with friends. New Year`s Eve tend to be festive, loud, and and lively. People go to social gatherings or parties, countdown events, and watch fireworks displays.
How about you? How did you celebrate your New Year`s? You can try some of these sentences to practice:
I ate osechi and ozoni with my family.
I went to the shrine and prayed for good health.
I spent time at my grandparents` house.
