Valentine’s Day in America
Valentine’s Day is February 14!
Have you heard of the poem,
“Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Sugar is sweet,
and so are you”
This is a popular poem used for Valentine’s Day.
In America, Valentine’s Day is as big as Christmas celebration. Lots of stores sell many different kinds of candy, chocolates, flowers and decoration that relate to the holiday. This day is not only meant for couples and lovers. In America, everyone celebrates it. At school, kids make bags and boxes to collect candy and cards. Kids would also buy and make cards to give out to their classmates at school. It is a fun event where people write little notes and give out treats. Friends give Valentine’s Day cards to each other too, as a way to celebrate friendship. Parents would also write cards to give to their kids and express their love. In addition to candy, chocolate and cards, flowers are also very popular during this time of month, especially roses. People celebrate it by eating at restaurants too.
