What's a leap year?
This year is a leap year and that means we get an extra day at the end of February. Instead of 28 days, we have 29!
Why?
Every one knows there are 365.25 days in a year! That .25 adds up, so every four years we gain an extra day for the year!
This extra days helps up stay aligned with the season. What will you do with your extra day?

What is Black History Month?
This is an annual observation based in the United states that has spread to other places such as Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom but it has only been around for 54 years.
The significance of Black History Month is to remember the important people and events that were erased or glossed dover in the history of the forced African Diaspora.

The second flower for the month of February is the Primrose.
These flowers bloom early and are known for their bright colors.
They are appreciated for their beauty, symbolism and various uses.
Primroses represent renewal of life, new beginnings and are also believed to bring good luck and protection!

We have come to the last things on our list, the birth flower of February.
February, like most, has two flowers. The first flower being Violets.
Like the color, Violets are a bright shade of violet with a white center. They are small flowers with leaves shaped like hearts.
Violets have various meaning depending on their colour, the common one is the purple violet which means deep love, loyalty and devotion.

The second birthstone for this month is Jasper. The origin of the name Jasper has the meaning of Spotted or speckled stone.
This stone is often noted as the guardian angel rock for those born in February.
Jasper is generally known as a healing stone symbolizing courage and positive energy and wisdom. It is valued for its strength, protection and grounding properties. Also believed to bring stability, balance and resistance to individuals.
