Happy New Year to All!
In South Africa New Years Day is spent reflecting on the year and making resolutions, and it is also traditional to spend time in nature, appreciating the beginning of a new year in nature. In true South African style, many friends and families opt to spend New Year's Day braaing (barbecuing) in the gardens, parks and beaches of the country (where permitted), taking advantage of the warm, sunny summers of the country.
They often celebrate until late at night as January 2nd is also a public holiday in commemoration of the one day historical slaves had a day off.
