Last Summer Seminar, we made an erupting volcano! It was so fun and easy!
First, we made a cone and colored it brown. In a glass, we put vinegar and red food coloring and put the volcano over the glass. After that, we poured some baking soda and it started bubbling and sizzling! The red mixture overflowed and it looked like an actual magma! It was so cool!
Some kids mixed some colors together and got a purple magma! It was even cooler!

The Philippines has only two seasons, wet and dry. During wet seasons, raining cats and dogs was a usual scenario from June to December, and not to mention, changing weathers. We may experience a bright sunny day in the morning, but later in the afternoon, there would be a high chance of rainshowers. When I was still in school as a student, when a heavy rain had started to pour, we would usually yell and cheer "SUSPENDED!" which is followed by an announcement of class suspension from our teacher. As students, it was the sweetest class announcement as it would mean we would be all going home early do whatever.

A super typhoon struck the Philippines that caused a 3-foot deep flood in Manila. Unluckily, I had to walk home for nearly 2 hours while my bottom half was soaked in water. When I got home, I went straight to the bathroom to take a thorough shower. Sharing hot chicken macaroni soup with my family was such a relief after a long day.
Rainy days in Manila would sometimes cause electricity blackouts. When I was young, my family and I usually eat together while sitting around a candle we lit up after lights went out. We couldn't have anything fun because it was so dark. My parents used to tell us stories from their childhood, mostly scary ones. Sharing stories while eating hot chocolate porridge and hot buns was a fun way to kill time during dark rainy days.
