Last week I had the pleasure of teaching a class that isn`t normally mine.
This adult class is two older students with whom I practiced speaking about holidays and plans.
Our conversation eventually led to us talking about what different holidays mean in my country and here in Japan, and they took the time to explain to me some traditions around the New Year.
It was wonderful to hear about all the interesting things that happen here, and to see their interest in my home traditions, but best of all was seeing them work out what to say together and their pride when I understood their explanations.
I always love when students have that moment,

本日は低学年の英検対策個別セミナーのお話をいたします。
小3のTくん。今は英検5級に向けていつものレッスンと合わせて対策レッスンに来てくれています。
読みの練習をたくさんしたので、約1っか月前よりも読める単語がぐんと増え、スムーズに読めるものも多くなっています。
リスニングは、英検ジュニアと形式の似ている第3問がほぼ満点状態！
すごく頑張っています！
みなさんも負けじと、英検に向けて頑張りましょう！

Christmas is finally here!
Hoping that everyone has a wonderful day, filled with delicious food,
warmth, laughter and good times! It is the time of year when we give thanks to the people
around us with gifts and well wishes. Spreading joy and love!
It is also the time when we start preparing for the New Year.
The countdown has already begun!

The most wonderful time of the year has come again, Tonight is Christmas Eve!
All of our students are now enjoying their Winter Vacations, I have been hearing from them all week about their plans.
"I will go to see my grandparents"
"I will have a party with my family"
"I`m going to see my friends"
I`ve been so happy hearing all the lovely things everyone will get to do, and each lesson ended with a cheerful "Merry Christmas" from each student!
I have always loved how happy the holiday season can make people.

Last week Marked the end of English lessons for one of my wonderful older students. `H` has decided that she needs to step back so she can spend more time preparing for high school.
I will miss Saturday evening talking with `H` about movies, school activities and our favorite kinds of tea, but I hope that she continues to thrive at school and love studying.
the same to all of the students who have come and gone from Amity, I wish only the best for all of them in their future studies.

Monday is here and it's just a short until until the school holidays officialy begin.
Wishing all the students the best of luck with their last week of school!
This got me thinking about the upcomming holidays. A lot of my students are very excited
for Winter Vacation! Many of them have been telling me about their plans, where they are going,
what they will be doing and who they will be visiting. I am so excited for them! Being around family makes things fun!
I am looking forward to my family coming over this Winter vacation.
My Friday, Junior High students even took a photo with me to show my family. Thank you "M", "Y" and "H"!
I hope all the students have a good week and start their vacation on a very positive step!

Not too long ago, while I was walking around town, I ran into one of my students out for a walk with their mom.
It was wonderful to see my student get so excited when they recognized me, waving and running over to say hello.
Due to the student`s level, our conversation was rather short, but they were the first to ask "how are you?" and Mom looked so proud to see them using their English on their own.
Little moments like this make me remember why I am a teacher.
I hope I can continue to see my students grow in the future.

みなさんこんにちは！
今回は高校生の文法プライベートレッスンのお話をいたします。
アミティーを初めてまだ数か月のSくん。
学校のテストに向けて、アミティーの文法教材と学校の教材を使いながら練習を重ねました。
文法を理解しながら解くことがよくできるようになり、本人も問題を解くときに手ごたえを感じていると伝えてくれました。
実際の点数も、以前のテストより20点アップ！！
努力を重ねた成果が出ました！
次は英検とTOEIC Bridgeですね！！
引き続き一緒に高得点を目指して頑張りましょう！

After having a few lessons, my digital student from another school, and I
have finally started establishing a bond! It is such a wonderful experience,
breaking through the barrier and making a connection. Despite the off and on,
equipment hic-ups, we are laughing more during our lessons! Student "M" is incredibly cute
and actually has a great sense of humour! She is making such good progress during her lessons!
Student "M" Always tries her best and seems to be understanding me, more and more.
Telling me about her marks and what she would get her friends as gifts, really made my day!
I look forward to our live lessons, everyweek!
