Japan’s summer snacks help people stay cool.
Most of my students really like Kakigōri which is soft shaved ice with sweet syrup. A handful of students like Mizu yōkan is a light jelly dessert and Hiyashi chūka which is cold noodles with toppings.

Japan has many famous cities. Tokyo is known for its tall buildings and old temples, making it a popular place for visitors.
Kyoto has a rich history, great food, and fancy hotels that attract tourists.
Osaka is loved for its tasty street food and its famous castle.
In one of the high school classes we were discussing our favorite cities in Japan!
Most students said they like the popular cities like Osaka and Tokyo!

Mother’s Day is approaching, and it’s the perfect time to celebrate and appreciate the incredible mothers in our lives! Whether you’re planning a heartfelt message, preparing a special meal, or finding a thoughtful gift, this holiday is all about showing love and gratitude.

Happy Children’s Day! Today, families across Japan are celebrating this special occasion, which honors the joy and well-being of children. From colorful koinobori flying high to festive activities that bring communities together, it’s a day filled with love and tradition.

In our school, two young students participated in a free event to mark the celebration. They had a wonderful time crafting their very own carp streamers! With bright colors and creative designs, their koinobori represent the strength and resilience that Children’s Day is all about. The students proudly displayed their work, bringing smiles to everyone who saw their vibrant creations.

Golden Week is here, and with so many people heading out for adventures, it’s important to plan ahead to make the most of the holiday. Whether you’re taking a day trip, visiting family, or going on a big getaway, a little preparation can make all the difference!

During the recent conversation with adult learners, a few of them shared their plans for holidays. One is planning to visit the World Expo, experience the newest exhibits and cultures of the globe, while another is expecting a holiday at a serene onsen in order to relax and recharge.
