8月に中高生の皆さんが受けたTOEICとTOEIC Bridgeの結果が返ってきました。中学校2年生のYちゃんは、毎回確実に点数を上げていっています。数字に表れると自分自身のレベルアップがわかっていいねとお母さんと喜んではいたものの、もう少し点数を伸ばしたい向上心のあるYちゃんは、次回に向けて再度気を引き締めていました。次は例年と違い、12月にも実施されます。頑張ろうね！

I really don't like insects, and I hate when they come near me. It's my greatest fear. In Summer, there are many insects flying around, and alot of them come into Amity. Recently, one of my high school students bravely picked up a cicada and placed it outside. I was really impressed by her courage. During class, I asked my students what their fears were. Some students said ghosts, others said dark rooms or high places. Most students said that their greatest fear was getting a bad score on their test! More specifically, they were scared of their parents reactions to a bad test score. I could definitely understand how they felt!

My kindergarten students recently got new books to practice their writing. I am so impressed by how well they are able to trace the words to make a sentence. Their writing is small and neat. They can write each letter correctly. I'm sure this will help them learn how to write words properly when they start elementary school.

My junior high students have been talking about the hobbies they have now, and the hobbies they had as a child.

I asked one of my students 'what hobbies did you used to have as a child?'

She said 'I used to collect rare rocks, it was hard at first but now I'm used to it.'

I used to play musical instruments, I found it really difficult and still do!

What kind of hobbies did you used to have as a child?

My favourite season is summer because I like swimming in the sea and eating ice cream!

会話レッスンでは毎週天気の確認をしているのですが、Mちゃんは近頃イラストを見て"It's sunny!"と答えられるだけでなく、文字だけを見てそれがsunnyであることがわかってきました。この調子でほかの天気も読めるようになれそうですね。がんばりましょう！

Many of my students had their sports days recently. They were really excited about participating. Some students showed me the dance that they were going to do. It looked really cool. Many students were running in different races and felt tired after practice, however, they still did their best in class. I admired their dedication to studying.

Some students, however, were not excited about sports day. One of my junior high school students said "I hate exercise! It makes me too tired!". He said he likes studying more than exercising. I agree with him. I think studying is much easier than exercising!

11月に毎年恒例の英検ジュニアのテストをアミティーで行います。
在校生のみなさんには、お申込書をお渡しさせて頂いていますので、9月30日(土)の締め切りまでにカウンターまでお持ちください。

【英検ジュニアとは？】
英検協会の主催する、小学生が対象の英語のリスニング試験です。
BRONZE、SILVER、GOLDの３つの級があり、合否ではなく、何％とスコアで結果が出ますので現在の英語力を測りやすい試験です。

英語を「聞く」テストですので、読んだり書いたりする必要はありません。

SILVER　８０％以上＝英検５級のリスニング力に相当、
GOLDは、英検4級～3級レベルの難易度です。

英検を目指しているお子様にもうってつけのテストです！
今年も高得点目指してがんばろう＼(^o^)／
