Idiom of the Week!

That's right! It's that time again!
This week's idiom is (On thin ice)!

The meaning: You are already on the watch list, if you make another mistake you will be in trouble.

Scenario: The angry mother said to her son, "You are on thin ice right now!", you did poorly on your exam and now you are making excuses about going to practice. I am fed up with your attitude. One more mistake and I am taking away all of your privileges.

Idiom of the Week!

That's right! It's that time again!
This week's idiom is (Look before you leap)!

The meaning: To carefully plan ahead before jumping in.

Scenario: I am going to move to the western coast! There are a lot of jobs that are paying well. Are you sure about that? How you done your research? Yeah, I did. They are paying double and sometimes almost triple of what I make here. Ok, but you should confirm your sources and get everything ready before leaping right into it. Don't worry I have everything covered. You know, you should "really look before you leap", even though it is a lot of money, there aren't that many positions left open and the hours are actually over time, every day. When you calculate the cost/benefit ratio, it is not that much better than just staying. Well, when you look at it that way, I am glad you checked it out! Ugh, you really need to plan better.

Fun Facts and Awesome News!

That's right! It's that time again! (Fun Facts and Awesome News)!

On this day in 1973, the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul, Turkey is completed, connecting the continents of Europe and Asia over the Bosporus for the first time. This is super exciting. I really enjoy big projects and mega-structures that bring people together instead of tear them apart.

Polite

Many cultures have different rules when it comes to what is accepted as polite and rude. For example, in Japan if a non japanese person sits in an empty seat other japanese people will not sit next to the person even if there is a space to sit down. This is considered polite in Japan but the opposite in other countries.
Think about it...

Idiom of the Week!

That's right! It's that time again!
This week's idiom is (Live and Learn)!

The meaning: To learn something.

Scenario: Hey how was your trip to the mountain? I didn't make it. What happened? My car got a flat and I didn't have a spare tire in the trunk. I had to call a tow truck and take my car in. They didn't have my size tire so I had to wait the weekend. All in all, it was a wasted trip. Well, "live and learn" I guess. Yeah, tell me about it.
