Santa Clause is a very well known figure in pop culture and that is an incredible feat considering that he is fictional. Many kids are encouraged to believe in Santa clause as it adds a touch of whimsy to the Christmas season but is also a good way to keep the students well behaved. The image of Santa has made children very happy and excited as they believe that he would bring them whatever presents they want if they behaved throughout the year.
Krampus is a lesser known Christmas figure originating from many different European cultures. This is the dark brother of Santa tasked with punishing children that have behaved badly throughout the year. Krampus has a red sack that he tosses misbehaving children into and shakes them. He is also believed to rattle chains to upset the children.
This Christmas I hope we are all visited by Santa and not Krampus, happy holidays

Ending of Halloween....Hello Christmas
Christmas season starts around November for many people. Shops begin to sell Christmas themed items and presents. There is a subtle change in the air and the Christmas spirit starts to develop in everyone, children are excited for Santa and adults are excited to exchange gifts with their loved ones. Its time to say goodbye to Halloween and Hello to the festive season.

本屋さんで知育教材を探していると、「５歳までに脳を使うことを楽しむ習慣づけを」という言葉を見つけました。英語に限った話ではないと思いますが、アミティーでも５歳までの子どもたちにも、家庭学習の習慣をつけていただけるように宿題を用意しています。ベビーはDVD鑑賞や絵本の読み聞かせ、３・４歳児には絵のマッチングや数のカウント、色や形合わせなど、知育教材を使った英語の宿題を出しています。「まだ小さいから…」とやる前から決めてしまうのではなく、状況判断がまだよく分からない年齢から「考えることが好き」という気持ちを育てていくことが大切なようですね。
Spiders are one of the worlds most common phobias, which makes sense because they are not the prettiest critter. Eight hairy legs and beady eyes are enough to send anyone into panic mode, no matter the size and color. Anyway, here are some random facts about spiders:
- All spiders produce silk. The webs that are found in corners or under beds are actually made of spider silk. This is an incredibly strong and durable material. If you have been unlucky enough to get caught in a spider web you know how frustrating it is to untangle yourself as the threads do not seem to snap when pushed.
- Certain species of spiders, namely jumping spiders can see into spectrums or colors that humans cannot.
- Most spiders have up to eight eyes but they are nearsighted. Spiders are unable to see far into the distance. This is why webs are so effective, spiders rely on the vibrations sent through webs in order to locate their prey.
Pumpkins are beloved all over the world. There are over 40 different kinds of pumpkins each with their own name, my personal is sweetie pie pumpkins. Even though its well-known as a vegetables pumpkins are actually a fruit. This is because they grow out of the flower of their plant which makes them a fruit. Pumpkins are used in a variety of sweet and savory dishes so it fits either the vegetable or fruit category just fine.
Pumpkins are a symbol for Halloween but originally it was turnips. In the original tale of how we came to use pumpkins as Jack 0` lanterns . They were made The tale said that “Stingy Jack” (Skeleton Jack) tried to trick the devil into paying for his bar tab. And after Jack died, the devil was so angry about the situation that wouldn’t let Jack cross over to the afterlife. So, he had to wander the Earth at night, using light from a single coal. To avoid burning his- undead- self, he put the coal in a hollowed out turnip, and became known as “Jack of the Lantern.” This Irish tale led to the tradition of carving turnips in Jack’s likeness, to scare him away.
