Obon Vacation

Hello everyone! Obon vacation is coming soon; and we are all getting ready because as believed that each year during obon, the ancestors' spirits return to this world in order to visit their relatives. Get your lanterns ready and hung them in front of your houses to guide the ancestors' spirits, and have time to visit them on their graves and offer food at house altars and temples. At the end of Obon, hopefully we will see floating lanterns put into rivers, lakes and seas in order to guide the spirits back into their world. Because of the corona virus pandemic this year, it is strongly advised for everyone to stay home and limit any non-essential activities. Let's stay safe everyone and stay healthy!

No School Announcement

Good morning everyone! I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far! Just wanted to remind you that next Saturday is no group lesson day, so we don't have our regular weekly lesson. Your next Saturday lesson will be August 7 and we will be doing the review lesson of Unit 4. In the mean time, keep watching those movie lessons and keep up with your drill books.  See you soon!

Protect Yourself and Others this Summer

Hello everyone! Summer is a very exciting season to enjoy to but with the pandemic still hovering around - let's protect ourselves and others! First, you should wear a mask. Second, you must avoid crowds and poorly ventilated places. Third, wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Fourth, cover cough and sneezes - if you are wearing a mask: you can cough or sneeze into your mask, and put on a new, clean mask; and if you are not wearing a mask: always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue. And lastly, you must clean and as well disinfect! Enjoy your summer vacation everyone and if you feel sick, please see a doctor. - Gianna sensei

Summer Seminar

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you have been enjoying the nicer weather this week! Feels wonderful to have a break from all the previous rainy days.

This week, I want to share a new seminar craft I did with my student. We created our own board game to practice new locations. We used the language, "Where are you going?" "I'm going to the post office." He had a lot of fun coloring the board game and enjoyed winning against me too. It is  fun and creative way to practice speaking. Can't wait to share more seminars with you!

Staying Safe for Summer Vacation

Hello!!

Summer break is coming up in just a few short weeks for most students so I want to talk about some fun activities that you can do while safely social distancing. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to make homemade popsicles and lemonade. Yum! Summer is also great for spending time outdoors.  It is fun to go fishing, have a picnic with your siblings and parents, or go stargazing. What is your favorite summer activity?

Have a great week!
