2歳児さんになると、何に対しても「やだ」と、ママやパパが困っている風景をよく見かけます。しかしそれもひとつの成長です。
アミティーでも「やだ、やらない」はよく見る光景です。でも、ベビーちゃんたちは先生の発話を聞いたり、ｉLessonの画像を観て、レッスンを通して様々なことを学び、英語を身につけています。
「レッスン中は先生のあとにリピ－トすらしなかったのに、家に帰ったら、絵本のペ－ジを開いて先生のマネをしていた」
「お風呂の中で突然英語でカウントし始めた」
「レッスンで習った英語の歌を歌っていた」
というお話はよく聞きますが、イヤイヤ期がひどいからと英語学習をギブアップしたという話はあまり聞きません。みんな乗り越えてます！
ちなみに、世界でもイヤイヤ期はあり、英語では「Terrible two」なんて言います。

Recently my junior high school students have been learning about interesting hobbies such as painting model figures and playing electric guitar. Many of my students like drawing and playing sports in their free time.

One student brought his model trains to Amity to show the teachers. He has an impressive collection. The trains are beautiful and have intricate details. He was able to talk about the diffrent trains in English and I was amazed at how much he knew about them.

In my free time, I like building things with Lego and reading. How about you? What are your hobbies?

日本語と同じ「ことばの基礎」が作られる前です。
赤ちゃんはママのお腹の中にいるときからことばを聞いています。もちろん生まれたばかりの0歳児がことばを聞いてすぐに発話するわけではありません。ママやパパ、周りの家族の話しかける言葉を理解しようと反応することで、徐々に「ことばの基礎」が作られます。そして、この「ことばの基礎」を日本語と同時に英語でも作ることにより、日本語に近い形で英語を身に付けることができます。ただ、日本にいることで圧倒的に日本語が有利になるは当然です。英語に触れる時間が限られている日本だからこそ重要になるのが指導力と質と内容。アミティーの「将来を見据えた英語力育成カリキュラム」を一度体験下さい。

My junior high school students recently learnt the phrase "Would you rather...?" People often play a game where they ask their friends what they would choose between two things. For example, would you rather eat pizza or eat ramen? Here are some of the questions my students asked me... What would you choose?

Would you rather never eat sushi again or never eat meat again?
Would you rather read books or play video games?
Would you rather go to the beach or go to the movies?
Would you rather eat chocolate for dinner or eat curry and rice for breakfast?
Would you rather be a good singer or be a good dancer?

Can you think of any other "Would you rather" questions?

夏休みが始まりましたね！アミティーでも夏の特別講座、夏セミナーが本格的に始まりました！
アミティーの夏セミナーは大きく分けて３つ。
①マンツーマン個別レッスン
②インタラクティブ（ＰＣ）特別レッスン
③英語でプログラミング（個別）
どのレッスンも生徒に合わせて先生たちがカリキュラムを立てるオリジナルレッスンです。今年もたくさんのお申込みをいただきました！先生たちのスケジュールもいっぱいですが、みんなの英語力アップ、目標到達、試験合格のため、先生たちもがんばります！

On Wednesday I was talking about trains with a student. He was telling me about rare trains in Japan.

I love trains! I have seen several rare trains before, but not in Japan. My favourite rare trains to see when I am in England are the Pullman coaches! The best train I have ever been on was a SE&CR Wainwright C-class steam train at bluebell railway!

プライベートで会話レッスンをしている高校生のRちゃんは、Yash先生と毎週お互いに宿題を出し合っているそうです。Rちゃんは英語を、日本語を勉強中のYash先生は日本語の意味を、それぞれ覚えて次の週に確認しています。日本語を英語で説明するのはとても難しいですが、いつも楽しそうにレッスンしていますね♪ぜひこの調子で単語を吸収していってください！

今年の４月からインタラクティブレッスンを始めたNくんは、全部英語で教師のヘルプもなしに、様々なことを一人で理解できます。先日は海賊を指さして、「このpirateがね、、」と話してくれました。pirateという単語は教えていないのに、音声を聞いて彼がpirateだと分かったのかと驚きました。ぜひこれからも色々なものを聞いて、知っているものを増やしていきましょう！
