A: "Guess what I saw 👀🤩!"
B: "What did you see 👀🤔?"

B: "How interesting 😲🤔!"
A: "Yes, I was really scared 😨 though!"

英語が大好きな年少さんのRくん、絵本のパートで絵本を取り出すときに、タイトルの"The Hungry Polar Bear"をひとりで言えて、とても驚きました！キャラクターの音声と一緒に "Yes, I do."などと発話もしながら、絵本を読み進めることができましたね。次はどんなことが言えるようになるか、楽しみです♪

中学校１年生のRくんとKちゃんは、先日初めての定期テストを終え、結果をもってきてくれました。２人ともさすがの高得点で安心しました。ひとつふたつのケアレスミスは、これから試験を重ねるにつれて失くしていけるといいですね。次回の結果も楽しみに待ってます。

Where would you like to go on vacation?
My higher elementary school students have been learning about different countries.
One of the questions we learnt was "Where would you like to go on vacation?"
Most of my students said "I'd like to go to America" or "I'd like to go to France". One of my students answered "I'd like to go to Yashoda's house". I thought it was very funny and cute.
I'd like to go to Okinawa on vacation. How about you, where would you like to go on vacation?

Summer is still a few months away, but the weather is starting to get warmer.
When is it very hot, I like to eat ice cream to keep cool. My favorite flavour is mint chocolate.
I also like to go to the swimming pool or play at a water park.

アミティーではこの5月からベビーイベントを再開しました！今月1回目の5/18(木)には、3組4名のベビーちゃんが参加してくれました。
ベビーの頃はママやパパのマネっこをすることが大好きです！なので、イベントではぜひママやパパに歌の練習をしていただきたいです。おうちでもベビちゃんに歌ってあげてくださいね♪

Weird British English Expressions
English is a funny language. Often, British people use sayings to express themselves using metaphors which are sometimes difficult to understand!
Here are some of my favourite expressions and their meanings:
"It's chucking it down!" - It's raining heavily.
"It's a piece of cake!" - It's easy.
"Leg it" - To run away quickly.
"The elephant in the room" - Something obvious that everybody knows, but nobody wants to talk about.
"Wild goose chase" - A pointless or impossible search or pursuit.
Try and use them in a story like this!
One day, it was chucking it down outside. My mother asked my sister and I to go and buy 'big blue bread' from the supermarket.
"Be back in half an hour!" She said.
"Piece of cake, we will be really fast!" I said.
We did not have much time.
My sister looked at me and said "better leg it if we are going to make it in time!"
We arrived at the supermarket and looked for 'big blue bread.' We could not see any bread that was big, nor any bread that was blue!
My sister and I were running out of time, so we ran back home.
We went back home with no 'big blue bread.' Our mother noticed that we had not bought anything from the supermarket. Everybody was quiet, nobody wanted to address the elephant in the room that we had failed our task.
Our mother asked; "why didn't you buy any bread?"
"Any bread!? You mean we could have bought any bread at all!?" I said.
"Yes you silly! 'big blue bread' is just the brand I like!" She said.
Our mother had sent us on a wild goose chase!

今年小学校１年生になったYちゃんは、先日もらった初めての１年生ドリルを、おうちに帰ってすぐにやりたい！と言ってくれたようです。お母さまと一緒に進め方を確認してさっそく取り組んでくれました。ご家庭での学習習慣を今のうちにつけることができると理想ですね。来週どのくらいできたか見るのが楽しみです♪
