小学校3年生のフォニックス
小学校3年生のMちゃんは記憶力がとてもよく、昔から習ったものの名前や月、天気など幅広い語彙があります。フォニックスドリルに出てきた単語ももちろんすべて覚えていて、26文字すべて"B says [b][b] banana."などそらで言えます。先日はおうちで動画を見ている時に覚えたものを披露してくれました。owlやgiraffeなど勉強した音以外から始まる単語も完璧でした！次はどんな名前が出てくるか楽しみです♪

頭文字を考えよう！
年長さんのSくんとMちゃんは最近のレッスンの中で、アルファベットを言うだけでなく、そのアルファベットから始まる単語を考えることができます。"C says [k][k] cake!"と声をそろえて言ってくれた時は感動しました。また逆に、この単語はどのアルファベットから始まっているか、頭文字を考えるアクティビティーも始めました。これから音を繋ぐところから、単語を読めるようになっていきます、頑張ろうね！

What does her hair look like?
My higher grade elementary students have been learning to describe people's appearances. One of the language patterns they learnt was "She has curly red hair". Some students made very creative sentences in their workbooks such as "She has long rainbow hair" and "He has one black hair". They also drew pictures of the hair they were describing. It was great to see them have so much fun while learning English.

What would you prefer?
Recently I asked my higher grade elementary students about their preferences. For example, I asked "which would you prefer, pizza or cake?" I was surprised that most students chose pizza over cake. One of my students loves PomPom Purin, so I asked her "which would you prefer, a giant PomPom Purin doll or a trip to Disneyland?" She said that she would prefer a trip to Disneyland because it is more expensive. Lucky for her, she received a giant PomPom Purin doll for Christmas.
