A verb puts our things (nouns/pronouns) in action.
Let's look at how verbs are used in the following sentences.
- The boy runs to the store.
- She was at the party.
- My mother told me to clean my room before the guests arrive.
- The boy (our noun) is put into action by the verb to run (runs).
- She (our subject/pronoun) is put into action by the verb to be (was). Without was, the phrase “she at the party” is incomplete as we do not know what she was doing at the party. (Being is what she was doing.)
- Wow! Three verbs in one sentence. Try to see how the nouns and pronouns are put into action by the underlined verbs.
Clean clean clean and clean some more
Soon it will be 2025, but before the year ends we should clean our spaces. Do you enjoy cleaning? I do! I like cleaning the windows and floor. I especially like throwing away old things I have not used in a long time. It's nice to enjoy the extra space in my home. Happy cleaning! I hope you have a sparkling 2025!

This Saturday will mark the 2024 Winter Solstice. It is the day with the shortest amount of daylight of the year. After December 21st the days will start to get longer. However, the days will continue to get colder until March . This is mostly because the weather is driven by the oceans. Have a happy solstice!
