The Old Woman and the Physician
An old woman having lost the use of her eyes, called in a Physician to heal them, and made this bargain with him in the presence of witnesses: that if he should cure her blindness, he should receive from her a sum of money; but if her infirmity remained, she should give him nothing.
This agreement being made, the Physician, time after time, applied his salve to her eyes, and on every visit took something away, stealing all her property little by little.

"Then come again and look at the hole," said a neighbor; "it will do you just as much good. "Wealth unused might as well not exist.

Once upon a time there was a Miser who used to hide his gold at the foot of a tree in his garden; but every week he used to go and dig it up and gloat over his gains.
A robber, who had noticed this, went and dug up the gold and decamped with it. When the Miser next came to gloat over his treasures, he found nothing but the empty hole.
He tore his hair, and raised such an outcry that all the neighbors came around him.

A blue moon is something that does not happen often. If a blue moon happens today, the next blue moon many happen in two years!
So when we say, " once in a blue moon" it means, something is unlikely to happen, or doesn't happen often.
"I drink coffee once in a blue moon"
