‘When pigs fly.'
This is a commonly used phrased in English and is used to point out the impossibility of an event occurring.
'Jack of many trades; master of none.'
This old English saying refers to a person who can perform many tasks but has no real skill or talent in anything.
Paris is shown in a lot of media and has been awarded the title 'city of love'. Many people have goals of going to Paris and Eifel tower in person. Japanese people have reported a strange phenomenon called Paris syndrome. This is the feeling of disappointment and even depression that comes after Japanese people visit Paris and expectations are not met. People claim to feel disorientated and dizzy and often suffer from periods of depression after visiting Paris for the first time. This is because Paris is over romanticized and when Japanese actually go they are met with terrible smells from Paris streets and the disappointment that the Eifel tower is simply a stack of metal.
Feeding ducks is a common activity done in most parks. Families often go to parks that have large ponds to dispose of stale bread by feeding it to ducks. This has some unfortunate consequences. Ducks do not have a digestive system similar to humans and even though they can handle small amounts of bread, over eating or eating it in excess can cause them discomfort and even pain.
Did you know the first being to go to space was not a human or ape but was actually a dog. The Soviet Union was one of the first countries to send dogs into space to test for safety. These canines played an important role in what we now understand about safe space travel.
'Stubborn as a mule.'
People use this metaphor to emphasis how hard headed or stubborn someone can be, mules tend to be very difficult to control or to move.
'To get along like a house on fire.'
This phrase means to get along well immediately after meeting. Usually used when two strangers meet and instantly become friends.
'The same boiling water that softens the potato, hardens the egg.'
People respond differently to situations. One situation might make a person stronger while the same situation may break someone else. Everyone is different and handles hardships in various ways. Be kind
