Onwards and Upwards.

It's always hard to say goodbye to students! especially when they have such a
positive impact on the class and even on the teacher.
Today was the last day for three of our students and it was really sad to see them go.

Two I had just had the pleasure of getting to teach them, the sweetest, bubbliest pair of P3 students!
Due to schedule and personal matters they had to make the shift.
The last one was one of my previous students, who recently entered HighSchool. His schedule has become so busy!
From club activities, studying and everything else just simply couldn't anyway.
But I was so glad to have met him! What an amazing student!
This student leaving was particularly sad because of how well we had bonded
since I taught them last year and a bit of the year before.

I hope all the students do their best learning English in the future!
May they keep moving onwards and upwards!

Big Book Bash

This week our new school books have started to arrive, seeing them all in their colorful stacks with their shiny covers makes me so excited!

One of my students saw them through an open door at the start of our lesson and asked me "is it mine?"
I love seeing our students get excited to have their books, so I`m looking forward to handing out the books soon!

The Vibe Check.

There are certain students who just bring an incredible energy to the classes every week!
It is part of the reason the classes are so enjoybale to teach! There is a vibe about them that gets both
me and the rest of the students in class in a great mood! I have two such students who make every week so much fun!

Student "K" and Student "Y". Both in different highschool classes but they manage to make the atmosphere lively. From sharing jokes,
being silly or just having interesting things to say that spark conversations. They really know how to create a great vibe!
I am impressed every week with how positive their impact is in their classes!

They definitely passed and scored high on the vibe check!
Thanks guys!

Stressed out!

The Time for Eiken tests is almost upon us now, All of our students have been working so hard to get ready.

While studying and preparing for tests is important, we also have to manage our stress levels.
Last week I noticed one of my superstar students, who is always so calm and happy, looked rather upset.
I asked her if she was okay and she told me "I have so many tests, I have to study all night!"

It is important to study for our tests, but if we do not sleep, then we won`t be able to remember anything anyway!
so Everyone, Please make sure that you take care of yourselves and your friends in these stressful times!

What's this/that?" "It's a ~." の構文を練習しました。
レッスン中は、みんなで立って動いたり、座ったりしながらお互いに質問をしてもらいました。
きちんとお友達の顔を見てお話してくれるので、『英会話』がとてもよくできています!

保護者の皆様、"What's this/that?"はご自宅でも、お外でも練習できるので、たくさん質問してください!
生徒のみんな、知っているものは"It's a ~."と教えてあげてくださいね!
わからないものはいつでも先生方に聞いてください!

Being a star!

It's always important as a teacher to give praise to all your students, especially when they try their best every week!
Learning a new language is always difficult, and they having really been making progress!
I am so proud of everyone so far and I am so happy to see some of the skills they have
been practicing taking shape in their conversations, with me and eachother.

One of my Adult students "M" is relatively new to learning/speaking English and watching her introduce
herself to a much younger little student really touched my heart. She saw one of the younger students in the lobby and spoke to her!
Their short conversation was so sweet and I was proud of her for courageously introducing herself in English!
She isn't a shy lady but she has been having confidence issues with her English skills, so this was amazing!

She really took being a star to heart!

What did you like?

This week and last week, our P5 students have been practicing talking about their holiday and weekend activities with the questions "what did you like at the Amusement park?" and "what was the roller coaster like?"

This question can also be used to ask about other activities, and so I have asked students about thei golden week activities. It has been great practice to hear from students not only what they did, but also what their favorite or least favorite parts were, everyone has had such interesting adventures and they always sound so excited to tell us all about them.

I hope we can have so many more adventures in the future!

Homework makes the dream work!

This week has been very busy, with organizing all the orders for the bookfair!
Many students are excited to be working on their new books and I am hopeful that they will
manage to complete them with little to no problems! It can be hard to do all the extra work and
I am proud of how dedicated everyone has been to completing their weekly homework! Keep it up guys!

Some students however are a bit wary of doing more self-study books as it means more homework.
As a teacher it is hard not to feel bad for assigning more homework to the students,
but at the end of the day it helps them re-enforce what they have been learning in
class and helps build up the necessary skills to tackle English with confidence!

Let's hope we can keep them motivated to go through their study material without feeling discouraged!

A Brand new Library

Many of our students will have seen it in our lobby, but I`m very excited to tell everyone.

Our Amity school now has a wonderful new library of story books to read before and after classes,
We have many picture books for students of all levels, they can read about music, animals, and many rhyming games and puzzles!

Each one of these books has been highly recommended by many teachers, So I made sure that each of them is ready to delight and teach everyone new things!
