4) Betty Botter bought some butter
But she said the butter’s bitter
If I put it in my batter, it will make my batter bitter

5) How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood
As a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood

Tonue twisters are great for practicing pronunciation. The better you get at them the faster you can say them without making mistakes. They help you to better pronounce the targetted sounds and are great for improving weak areas in your pronunciation. It would be quite helpful to practice some everyday. They only take 30 seconds to 2 minutes to practice!

I hope you have a great time with these tongue twisters and enjoy the rest of your week!

Collaboration is key!

Hello everyone, I hope you had a splendid weekend!

Today I would like to talk about teamwork!

Recently in my classes I have been letting students collaborate on questions and problems. They work together and discuss what they think the best answer or solution to a problem is.

This has allowed students to build a relationship with each other and to feel less self concious about suggesting an answer. This goes a long way in encouraging students to keep studying English and to enjoy coming to Amity.

They have also worked together on workbooks and drillbooks which has helped improve their answer accuracy and understanding.

I hope you enjoyed this article!

Enjoy your week!

That`s a lot of languages!

Hello Everyone, I hope that you are having a great week!

Today I would like to share some language trivia with you!

I am from South Africa, the southernmost country in Africa. My country is very culturally and linguistically diverse. So much so that we have a whopping twelve official languages! They are as follows:

Afrikaans
English
Ndebele
Sepedi
Sesotho
Setswana
South African Sign Language
Swazi
Tshivenda
Xhosa
Xitsonga
Zulu

I am sure that you have not heard of any of them before besides English. English is the medium of instruction and most people can at least speak English besides their own mother tongue. Most South Africans can speak three or more languages!

At school, it is compulsory for us to learn two languages. The others we pick up from interacting with other people outside of our culture. We mostly learn other languages out of an interest in and an interest in communicating with others. We don`t have a "method" but we are very curious about being able to understand how other cultures communicate.

If you want to learn another language easily try finding something interesting about the culture and people who speak the language!

Slang of the Day!

What is a slang?

According to " Cambridge Dictionary", a slang is vocabulary that is used between people who belong to the same social group and who know each other well. Slang is very informal language. It can offend people if it is used about other people or outside a group of people who know each other well. We usually use slang in speaking rather than writing. Slang normally refers to particular words and meanings but can include longer expressions and idioms.

Now that you know what slang is, let me introduce the slang of the day.

"Cheesy"

Meaning: cheesy can be synonymous to cringy but it could also mean low quality, unpleasant or insincere.

Example: He gave a cheesy grin to his father.
The movie we watched was so cheesy.
We went to a cheesy restaurant last night.
