Golden Week 🌸
Hello everyone! 👋
I hope you've all been doing well! 👍
Many countries offer a week of holidays to students as winter comes to an end. In some countries this is called spring break. In others it is known as March break or reading week. In Japan, the spring holiday is called Golden Week. Students aren't the only ones who get a week of holidays at this time. Most of Japan takes a break, including the hard working business workers. 🌸
The first holiday in Golden Week is April 29th. That was yestaerday!📅
On this day, Japanese people celebrate the birthday of Hirohito. In Japan, he is known as the Showa Emperor. The late emperor died in 1989. He was the 124th emperor of Japan and he reigned for 65 years during the Showa Period. Though it was once referred to as Greenery Day, April 29th is now known as Showa Day. Showa was an important period for Japan. During this time, rural Japan transformed into a highly industrialized nation. 🗾

International Noise Awareness Day 🔊😖
Hello everyone! 👋
Today, April 25th is International Noise Awareness Day.📅
International Noise Awareness Day is celebrated every year on April 25th.
It helps spread awareness about the effects of noise on our welfare and health. 📢
A common effect of noise pollution is hearing loss. 🦻
Several everyday activities and events generate a lot of noise. For instance, loud music from smartphones and other listening devices can cause hearing damage.
Similarly, fitness classes, entertainment venues, concerts, noisy restaurants, and sports bars generate a lot of noise. 🔊🎶
Hearing loss results when we’re constantly exposed to loud sounds.
The louder the sounds, the faster the hearing damage occurs. The length of exposure to loud sounds also affects the amount of damage. However, personal hearing protection devices like earplugs or noise-canceling earmuffs can protect the ears from damage. 🎧
Learning information like this in English is really beneficial not just for conversational purposes; it also helps in English interviews and exams, like EIKEN and TOEIC. 🏫📝
Join us at Takahashi Amity and let's learn more about the different types of pollution, in English.
