New Teacher Is Here!
Hello!
I am the new English teacher at Yonago Amity.
My name is Anna. I am very excited to be a part of Yonago Amity.
I am from Alberta Canada. It is super cold in Canada, so I am looking forward to some warmer weather.
I have a dog named Jennie. She is my favourite and I miss her very much.
I am excited to explore Yonago and Japan during my time here.
I look forward to teaching everyone, and helping everyone become more confident in their English skills!
Thank you for welcoming me to Yonago.

A look at Yonago's Historic Castle
Yonago Castle was built in the 1400s atop a hill, much like many castles in Japan and around the world. The high vantage point was good for surveying the surrounding area and served as a natural defensive feature.
In the year 1880, the castle was dismantled and turned into the rubble we see today. Around this time many Castles would meet their demise due in part to the Meji Restoration. The historic Castle in Matsue also almost met this fate.
In my research I have found little information on the Castle. It has been reduced to a backdrop for Sakura trees, but we can only imagine the great sight it once was. These days there has been a massive local interest in the site. If you would like more information, I would recommend visiting Yonago Library.

The Start of Fall
September marks the beginning of the Fall season (or Autumn as we say in Ireland) in Ireland. It is common to see the ground covered in golden brown leaves, often slippy due to all the rain. Children will sometimes use these leaves to create artwork and crafts at school. Iconic Fall snacks are flavored with pumpkin or maple but the most popular of all is Coffee.
Fall is most often a rainy dreary season as the nights get darker and we wait for Christmas. September is also the beginning of the school year for children in Ireland, so children often despise the sight of September coming!! It's not all bad though as around this time of year older teenagers begin planning for thier 'Formal' which is a large party held usually around November where girls and boys dress up in gowns and suits and dance with all their class mates during the last year of school!
