December Has Arrived

Now that the final month of the year has begun, it's time for students and teachers alike to work hard toward their goals before the year draws to a close. For many, this means preparing for the next round of Eiken exams in September, as well as entrance exam preparation. For others, that means taking part in seasonal seminars and celebrating the holidays that warm our hearts this time of year! We are offering Christmas seminars to interested students.

Observations Continue

Today many more parents came to Yonago Amity to observe lessons, and the students worked hard to demonstrate all they have learned this year! Though it can be nerve-wracking to participate in an ESL class with parents watching, I was impressed by the students' enthusiasm and dedication. I know our students will continue to learn and grow! ~ Leah Sensei

Winter Welcome

Today Yonago City welcomed its first of what is sure to be many snowfalls this winter. Despite the inclement weather, most students arrived to class without issue and studied hard. We are proud of our students and their tenacity here in the shadow of Mt. Daisen!

Weather in the Classroom

Today's students arrived complaining of the cold but then of the warmth by the end of active classes. Children benefit from kinesthetic learning and staying on their feet, and it's great that they can expend their energy at English school. This will keep them warm all winter! - Leah Sensei

November Successes

This week at Yonago Amity we have been helping students accomplish their goals by completing their Eiken Jr. tests! Others have been preparing for their upcoming interviews and working hard to improve their English. I was especially proud when a student became confident in her answers after much uncertainty. Well done all!

Halloween Fun Facts 💀 The Day of the Dead ☠️

Dia de los Muertos or The Day of the Days is celebrated in Mexico and a few other Hispanic countries from October 31st to November 2nd.

Dia de los Inocentes , November 1st , honors the children who died. White orchids and baby’s breath are used to decorate the grave by their family members.

Dia de los Muertos , November 2nd , orange marigolds are placed on the graves, of adults who died, by their family members.

The ancient Aztec actually celebrate this for a month but in 16th century when the Spanish conquistadors came to Mexico, the Catholic All Saints’ Day was combined to the festival.
At the present, it is celebrated with both Aztec and Catholic rituals.

Halloween Fun Facts 🤲 Beggars’ Night 🤲

In Des Moines, Iowa, the people started an event around 1938 called Beggars’ Night . This was a means for them to prevent vandalism and provide younger children a more secure way to have fun during Halloween.

Almost identical to the usual trick-or-treating, but this time children are having need to perform a trick , tell a joke or poem to get a treat.
