L

This week our students work on how to pronounce the letter L properly. The /l/ sound is made by placing the tip of your tongue on your alveolar ridge, the small bump on the roof of your mouth just behind your front teeth. The sides of the tongue do not touch other parts of your mouth, and the air travels around your tongue to produce the sound. The /l/ sound is a voiced sound, so your vocal cords vibrate as you say it.We also practiced reading words that start with the letter L such as line, leaf , laugh and little.

Giving Directions

Tourists love to visit Japan because of the beautiful places, culture and food. However, most English speaker have a hard time finding some places since the country mainly speaks English. In our lesson this week, we practice how to give directions. For example, when asked "How do I get to the karaoke place?" our students are able to respond "First, turn left, then go straight for one block and go past the traffic light. It's on the right."
