Idiom of the week #39

Hello, Amity family!

Here is your idiom for the week:
Under the table
If someone is talking about paying for something "under the table," it means the payment is secret, usually to not pay taxes. Someone might say "will you give me a discount if I pay you under the table?"

Idiom of the week #38

Hello, Amity family!

Here is your idiom for the week:
Armchair critic
An "armchair critic" is someone who shares negative opinions about something, even though they don't know much about it.
For example: "Brad is such an armchair critic. He always criticizes our local soccer team, but he's never played a game in his life!"

This expression probably comes from "armchair traveller," a person who reads about places they have not visited.
