As time went on, the US government sought to rectify some of the mistakes they did towards the Native Americans. One step they tried to take was returning the lands they took from Natives. The lands they gave back were called reservations.
The U.S didn't do well though, they put feuding tribes together, removed the hunters and made them farmers, and the close quarters they put them in caused disease to spreads.
Today, the descendants of the original Native Americans live on Reservations. Reservations are areas of land set aside specifically for Native Americans. This helps protect their heritage and culture.

When Christopher Columbus found America and European people came over, it changed many things for the Native Americans. Native Americans were forced to move from their homes into far away areas of America as the European people took over. (to california, Alaska, and the claimed "Indian territory" of Oklahoma.
There are many different Native American Tribes as said yesterday. Some of the more well known are the Cherokee, Navajo and Apachees.
The Navajo nation has the largest tribal lands in the United States. Though not all Native American tribes have their own land.
Most of the Native's tribes are found in Alaska, with California having the 2nd highest amount. California also has the highest Native American population of any state.
People lived in the United States before the Europeans came. The first people to live in a land are called indigenous people. The Native Americans are the indigenous people of the United States.
Native Americans lived all over North and South America, they lived in Alaska, Hawaii, and were split into many different tribes across America. Each tribe had different cultures. The tribes were different groups of Native Americans. They were different because of the culture, religion customs and language. However, they were all peaceful to one another.
