It's February 14th, which means it's Valentine's Day!
Valentine's Day also happens to be the half-way point of February since there are 28 days.
That is, however, except in the case of a 'Leap Year,' when February has 29 days.
Although it is a rare occasion, some people are born on February 29th, and there are jokes that even when the person is 40 years old, technically they are only 10 because a leap year happens only once every four years.

Next week is Valentine's Day, a popular holiday around the world. In Japan, the holiday is traditionally separated into Valentine's Day and White Day, but back in the United States, we only have Valentine's Day. Although the common image of Valentine's Day is that it is a holiday for couples, I have a fond memory of writing Valentine's Day cards and attaching candy for my classmates in elementary school. Although I don't have much of a sweet tooth, my favorite sweets were Smarties and marshmallow peeps. Will you do anything special for Valentine's Day? Do you have any favorite sweet treats?
It's hard to believe that the first month of January is almost finished already. Have you adjusted back to being at school? Pretty soon, it will be February, which will hopefully mean that spring will start to show its colors. My favorite season is spring, so I'm looking forward to warm weather and all the beautiful flowers that will bloom. What about you? What is your favorite season? Can you say why in English?

たくさんの生徒がレッスン前後に、宿題をするなど自主的に学習に取り組んでいます。
時間的に送迎が難しいな？という場合でも少し早めに来て自習したり、
保護者の方がお迎えにいらっしゃるまでコツコツ学習を進めてくださっています。

Have you ever heard of a suffix? It comes at the end of a word, and can give you a hint to its meaning.
For example, the suffix 'less' means 'no.' Meaningless means 'no meaning,' powerless means 'no power,' hopeless means 'no hope.'
'-ful' indicates something is 'full of' something. For instance, 'hopeful,' 'dreadful,' 'helpful.'
Although English is very different from Japanese, where you can use the written characters to determine the meaning of a word, English does have some hints if you know where to look!
