The Super Bowl is the championship game of the National Football League (NFL). It is played by the winner of the league's American Football Conference(AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC) each January or February. The game is hosted by a different city each year. The Super Bowl is an enormously popular sporting event that takes place each year to determine the NFL champion.

For this event many Americans plan a large watch-party with food and drinks with friends and family! This year the winner of the Super Bowl was the Kansas City Chiefs. The game took place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

🐾Groundhog's Day! 🐾



Groundhog's Day is a national holiday celebrated in America and Canada on February 2nd. On this day many people gather around Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, USA to see if the legendary groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, will see his shadow or not.

If Phil sees his shadow, then winter will continue for 6 more weeks😲. If Phil does not see his shadow, then spring will come early! 😎

This year, Punxsutawney Phil did NOT see his shadow! So that means 2024 will have an early spring!

The tradition is nearly 140 years old, originating from German immigrants who originally believed that a bear🐻 would be able to predict a long winter or early spring. In Pennsylvania, the people have chosen a more friendly animal to predcit the changing seasons.🦡

Recently, Japan put a Rover on the Moon!

🎉 Congratulations! 🎉

Japan is the 5th country to go to the Moon!

A Rover is a robot designed to explore the surface of planets and collect information about that planet. The information, or data, is then sent to Earth where scientists can study the data and make conclusions about the foreign planet.

Why is the robot named Rover? The name 'Rover' is usually a pet name for a dog in the English language. Naming the Rover after a pet means we trust and rely on the robot to be obediant and loyal to the scientists' mission. Japan's Rover is named SLIM ( Smart Lander for Investigating the Moon)

Each robot is specially made for the planet it is sent to! The Mars Rover is named Perserverence or 'Percy' for short 😊. Other Rovers of the past have been named Spirit, Opportunity, Curiosity, and Sojourner.

Each Rover is roughly the size of a car (nearly 3 meters long! 😲) and has arms, cameras, and six all-terrain wheels to help move around the rough terrain of the foreign planets.

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching! The way we celebrate Valentine's Day in Australia might be similar to how it is celebrated in Japan - stores will be gorgeously decorated in reds, pinks and whites, and you can buy all sorts of gifts for the person you love! You can even go for a romantic boat ride on Sydney's famous harbour. How will you be celebrating Valentine's Day this year?

中１生の※８割以上※が「小学生のうちにもっと英単語の読み書きを学習しておきたかった」と回答しています。中1までに、英単語の読み書きや英訳、和訳といった文法事項の基礎を身につけておくことが重要です。
