English Word of the day😀
Today's word of the day is Challenge😤
Taking an English test? Going to a sports competition? These are examples of a challenge. A challenge is something that is difficult, a test of ability or even a question of truth/validity.
Learning English is certainly a challenge💯 You can also take the Eiken test which is a challenge of your ability. Can you think of any other types of challenges?🤔
Today's English learning tip✨
Many kids come to class, learn English, practice a bit, and then go home. However, we can reinforce our knowledge by doing our homework🙂↕️
Homework is a really great way to reinforce what you learned in class and practice elsewhere. It is expected at the school that kids should have their homework complete.
Another homework resource we have are our drill books😊
Drill books are a really good supplement for learning English. You can relearn some foundational concepts and even learn something new.
Doing all of your homework is the key to success and will help reinforce what you learn in class🦉
English fun fact of the day!🦉
Did you know... English is considered the official or primary language of around 67 countries worldwide🤯.
In addition, there are 27 territories that also have English as their main language. This total number means that around 360 to 400 million native English speakers❗
Speakers of English, both native and non-native are called anglophones.
Let's all work hard to becoming an anglophone today!😤
Parent tip of the week!👍
One of the hardest things for kids learning a language is motivation😩
To help with this, I would suggest doing their normal hobbies or interests and mixing English with them. For example, if your child likes soccer, you can teach them vocabulary/phrases related to it.
Another idea is to ask them questions in English about their favourite things. Kids like to talk about their favourite things so asking them questions will entice them to try and use English more☺️ It is also a good idea for the parents to practice their own English too!
English speaking country of the day🌍
Today's English speaking country of the day is England!
England is part of the UK which is made up of four countries (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland)
England is the home of English and is actually made up of old Norse and Norman French. Actually, English is made up of approximately 30-40% French🤯. Some common English words that come from French are Restaurant, Fashion and Souvenir.
England, like Japan, is an Island nation and also shares a love for tea☕. Another similarity is the presence of queue culture which you can find anywhere. Skipping the queue is considered very rude so please wait😌.
