Roots, Prefixes, Suffixes part 2
Yesterday you learned what a root is, but what about the rest?
A
prefix is a group of letter placed before the root of a word. A root is the smallest word with a meaning.
Ex: Unhappy.
Un- (means not) and Happy is the root. Combined, “unhappy” means “not happy”.

Roots, Prefixes, Suffixes
Finding new words can be hard, but knowing roots, prefixes, and suffixes can help you understand the meaning of an unknown word. But first what is a root?
A root is the smallest part of the word that has meaning. Use Smallest, for example. The root is "Small" words like Happy, Find, Mean, Known. Those are roots, they are the base of a word.
