With Halloween on the 31st, October is the peak time for scary stories and superstitions.
In America, here are some common superstitions about bad luck:
- If you step on a crack, you break your mother's back
- If you crack a mirror, you will have 7 years bad luck
- Walking under a ladder is bad luck
- If a black cat crosses your path, it's bad luck
- Tipping a salt shaker over is bad luck
- Opening an umbrella indoors is bad luck

A lot of my students love candy, especially chocolate. It's a very popular sweet and many houses give out Snickers and Kit-Kat bars for Halloween.
I don't like chocolate, and maybe some of you don't either. My favorite Halloween treats were Smarties. They are delicious little tablet candies that come in a pack of about 15, and each light color has its own flavor. I liked the purple (grape) and pink (cherry) ones the best.
There are also other options like lollipops, candy corn, and Starburst.
A lot of kids (and adults) have a sweet tooth, but be careful not to eat too much candy! Your teeth and your stomach will thank you later!

One of the most fun parts of Halloween is dressing up in costumes. It doesn't matter if you're a baby, a kid, a teenager, an adult--everyone can dress up however they want!
In my elementary school, we had a Halloween fashion show every year where everybody who wore a costume got to show it off to all the students, parents and teachers! Then, they got some candy.
One year, my brother and I went as Luigi and Mario because our favorite game was Mario.
One year, my mom walked with our school around the block as a green M&M!
It's a lot of fun to wear costumes and create Halloween memories, so let's make some of those memories together at Amity!
