Our Unit 5 lessons for P4 we are talking all about different types of exotic animals! Some of these animals are not normally seen in Japan, even in zoos! So lets explore a bit about these animals.

Sharks - Sharks are seen all over the world! They are some of the oceans top predators!
Tapirs - Tapirs are native to central and south America, as well as southeast Asia, they have body types similar to pigs with short trunks similar to an elephants!
Peacocks - Peacocks are native to Sri Lanka and India, the male peacocks are the pretty ones, while female peacocks are brown.
Hummingbirds - Hummingbirds are native to the New World, which is mostly North and South America. They are called hummingbirds due to the sound produced from their wings while they fly.
Rhinoceros - The location where rhinoceros are found depends on the species, so they are found in Borneo, Sumatra, Namibia, the eastern Himalayas, and coastal east Africa. They are rapidly going extinct as there are only about 27,000 rhinos left in the world.
Sea otters - Sea otters are native to the coasts of the northern and eastern North Pacific Ocean. They are one of the smallest marine mammals in the world!

Typhoons can be a little scary, but not all weather is! Let's learn some summer weather terms!

台風は少し怖いかもしれませんが、すべての天気が怖いわけではありません。夏の天気用語を学びましょう！

台風 - typhoon (と発音される tai-foon)
雨 - rain
雷雨 - thunderstorm
雷と稲妻 - thunder and lightning
風が強い - windy

Since P1 and P2 lessons don't have a copychat (supplemental workbook) for their classes, they are given supplemental worksheets that accompany what we cover in class! Their age level primarily focuses on reviewing older vocabulary that they have already learned so we can gauge how well they are holding onto the English they have been learning, this includes reviewing older storybook vocabulary and older songs.

They have been great in their lessons so lets keep up the good work and do our worksheets!
