Apostrophe S [`s] for Ownership
We use the apostrophe S ['s] to show who owns an object or an item. We can ask "Whose keychain is this?" and answer "It is Yumi`s."
This week, our junior high students learned how to make recommendations. For example, they can ask "What is there to do around here?" and they can answer "Try visiting the bowling alley. It's near the cell phone shop." How about you? Can you recommend us any fun places to go in your area?
Tourists love to visit Japan because of the beautiful places, culture and food. However, most English speaker have a hard time finding some places since the country mainly speaks English. In our lesson this week, we practice how to give directions. For example, when asked "How do I get to the karaoke place?" our students are able to respond "First, turn left, then go straight for one block and go past the traffic light. It's on the right."
Recently, in one of our high school classes we talked about art. We talked about the different kinds of art and what kind of art is popular in Japan. Some students talked about paintings and drawigs. Some student say that animation is really famous in Japan too. Other students say that interactive art museums are great places to visit. How about you? What kind of art do you prefer?
In one of our high school classes we discussed about personal treasures. Personal treasure are any item that is important to an individual. Some students say their personal treasures are letters from their friends, some say it`s their family photos while other chose their smartphones. How about you ? What are your personal treasure?
In our kindergarten classes this week we tackled different items in the house and their location. For example, our students are able to ask the question "Where is the bed?" and answer "It`s in the bedroom."
